I watch these shows primarily for the backstabbing and the reversion to the "survival of the fittest/I'll beat-you-down-over-a-stick-of-butter" mentality and so once it's gone...what more is there really to entertain me?

Yes Susie Fogelson never fails to give great commentary and with those facial expressions - it's almost as if she knows my snarky camera is taking pics of her!!

Great recap.
The only thing that's making this show tolerable for me this season is that I'm watching big chunks of it on fast forward. All scenes where the teams meet with their mentors? Fast forward. Everything in the pitch room? Fast forward. Whenever Bob opens his mouth? Fast forward (but, like you, I do enjoy Susie). And, on fast forward, I like to pretend that Justin and Mondo from "Project Runway" are the same person.

I agree with you Joey that Josh will be the next to go. Made that prediction on my recap of episode 2. I wish there would be some double eliminations so this season could go quicker..

I think you're right on the money with all of them, Joey. Martita definitely is the one on Giada's team with the most FNS potential at this point, and less mechanical than Nikki.

The whole "team" format I'm not sure I like...but I don't hate it either. I guess without tasting the food, we're all left to base our opinions on likability and looks. I'm a guy so, I really don't care for drama or cat fights in competition that supposedly focuses on culinary talents.

My prediction is that the winner will be someone from Giada's team so, I'll limit by critique to them and keep this short (Also, this ain't my blog! :-P)

Martita - Great to look at. Nice rack, great smile. She's a natural when she's in front of the camera. She was quiet on week 2 but, she breezed by this challenge without a hitch. I like her. I can see her getting her own TV show. Also, did I mention she's easy on the eyes?

"Ippy" - Likable....but boring. I bet this guy makes great food and he's hella fun to smoke a joint with on the beach...I just don't see him carrying a show for an entire hour....or 30 minutes, for that matter. I guess we'll see though...can't rule him out completely.

Josh - *cringe* ...Do I really have to listen to another anecdote about his band or how he can do this or that because you know, he's in a band?? I'll be surprised if this guy makes it past the next episode.

Linkie - I forget she's on the show. I think she's nice. I bet she'd loan me a cup of sugar if we were neighbors but, I just don't think she has what it takes to be a "Food Network Star".

Yvan - Cool kid. He's got personality and I see him doing television even if he doesn't have the culinary chops. At the same time, smiles and cool are a dime a dozen in TV Land....you have to captivate viewers to get somewhere (Unless you're a rich socialite with a reality show).

Johnny, I thought that this was kind of a slow ep overall. I liked it, and was most happy to get the news about Bran, but I think enjoyed this more as a hint and set-up of things still to come. Ten episodes a season is just not enough. I know there are some major events afoot though.

Right on the money as always. I'm pretty bored so far also, and yes of course this show needs a "bitch on wheels" Hope that they will really flesh out these contestants in the next week
