Your Sunday Sinatra: “In The Wee Small Hours of the Morning”

“When your lonely heart has learned its lesson… You’d be his if only he’d call… In the wee small hours of the morning… That’s the time you miss him most of all”

“In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning” was composed by David Mann with lyrics by Bob Hilliard and introduced as the first track of the 1955 Sinatra album of the same name.  The album is a collection of ballads reflecting on lost loves and loneliness, reportedly inspired by Sinatra’s tumultuous relationship with actress Ava Gardner.
