Price is Right – Pay the Rent’s EPIC WIN/FAIL

The Price is Right did a fantastic job with the Veteran’s Day show today. The audience was comprised entirely of members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard, and first to make their way up to the stage from Contestant’s Row was Lance Corporal Zachery Garrison, who got a shot at winning $100,000 playing TPIR’s newest game “Pay the Rent.”
This game is super-tricky. The first impulse I’ve noticed most contestants who’ve had the opportunity to play it have is to place grocery items from least expensive up to most expensive, but that is absolutely the wrong way to go. The single item in the attic has to total more than the two items on the floor underneath it. Those two items have to total more than the two items on the floor below, and those two items have to total more than the single item that starts off the game when the contestant places it in the mailbox. So it’s really about striking that perfect balance between higher priced items and lower priced items as you make your way up, and just making sure your item on the top’s price crowns everything that’s been built below.
I have heard that there is only one correct arrangement that can win the contestant the top cash prize. So watch the video clip below and let me know what you think… did Zachery win or fail?

He won … but that hurts.
