Mom vs. The Ice Cream Pie

Sometimes people ask me, “Gary, why are you always so determined to do it your own way?”

Or they may say, “That Gary… he never gives up.”

Or perhaps they’ll mention to you sometime, “You always know exactly where you stand with Gary.”

And just last week, a co-worker on the stage said to me, “Gary… you definitely have a certain way about you.”

To those who wonder why I am the way I am… why I forced myself to stay up until two in the morning until I mastered the art of dough-making… why I’d pass up a Saturday night out to stay home and find the bugs in my HTML code that are preventing the header on my blog from being perfectly centered… why my blood pressure rose to alarming heights when my classmates didn’t get their stories in on time for my school newspaper (fifth graders are useless!)… I present to you the epic battle between my mom and my 40th birthday ice cream pie.

Witness the tenacity… that “never say die” spirit!  If something’s going to bring down Gloria Green, it sure as hell isn’t going to be a pie tin full of mint chocolate chip and a crust made of crushed Oreos.

See the video below.  And never forget… we Greens always get our way.

Thanks for the pie, mom.  And for the genes!

I must say I laugh every time I see this. What a heck of a fun night. And yes I do remember the 5th grade newspaper melt down Thought I was going to lose you for sure.
